Kick off summer with a long weekend of padel, surf and beach tennis on the north Cornish coast. Based at Anchor Barrow campsite above Perranporth, this 3-night small-group camp (max 12 people) mixes coached and social padel sessions, a group surf lesson with a local surf school, a sunset beach tennis opener and plenty of time to relax back at camp.

You’ll bring your own tent or van and we’ll take care of the rest: courts, coaches, surf lesson, schedule and on-site hosting. Expect a friendly, mixed-ability group who already play padel socially and like the idea of spending a few days on court, in the water and around the campsite bar.

Who's it For

If:

  • You already play padel (from keen beginner to solid intermediate) and like the idea of a whole weekend built around it.
  • You’re up for surfing – whether it’s your first proper lesson or you’ve been a few times and need an excuse to get back in the water.
  • You’re happy in a tent or campervan, and more interested in good company and fresh air than spa robes and room service.
  • You prefer a small, friendly group and like the idea of spending a few days with likeminded people who might end up as lifelong friends, not just partners for a game.
  • You are aged 21+ and want a full weekend of sport, camping and socialising

Come solo, with a mate or as a small group – we’ll mix partners and teams so everyone’s included and nobody ends up on the sidelines.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be good at padel?

No. You should be comfortable playing social padel (keen beginner to solid intermediate), but you don’t need to be advanced. Coaching is pitched so everyone can get something from it, and matchplay is mixed by level.

Do I need any surf experience?

No prior surf experience is needed. The group lesson is suitable for beginners and improvers – the instructor will split people by ability and confidence on the day.

Can I come on my own?

Yes – the camp is designed to work really well for solo guests. We’ll mix partners and teams for padel, surf and beach tennis, so you won’t be left tagging along on the edge of a big group.

Do I need to bring a tent or van?

Yes. The price assumes you bring your own tent or campervan and camping gear. Anchor Barrow has pitches, facilities and a bar/restaurant on site – you sort your setup, we sort the padel, surf and schedule.

Is food included?

Food and drink aren’t included, so you can keep things flexible and at your own budget. You can cook at your pitch or use the on-site bar/restaurant at Anchor Barrow and places in Perranporth.

How do we get to the padel venue?

Transport to and from UK Padel Newquay is included with your ticket - a direct private minibus will run both days before and after each padel session.

The padel venue is a ~20 minute drive from the campsite.

What if the weather is bad?

We expect “normal Cornish weather” and will run sessions in typical conditions, including light rain. If a provider (especially the surf school) decides conditions are unsafe, we’ll do our best to rearrange within the weekend or replace with a suitable alternative.

Only in very exceptional circumstances would the whole camp be cancelled, in which case you’d get a full refund.

The padel venue features two covered doubles courts, and 1 doubles & 2 singles outdoor courts - so we're good to play even if it rains. Anchor Barrow is very wet-weather friendly with a communal barn space and covered outdoor canopy.

What’s your payment and cancellation policy?

The deposit secures your place, with the balance due 6 weeks before the camp. If we don’t reach a minimum of 8 campers by 6 weeks out, we may cancel the camp and you’ll get a full refund or a free transfer to another date (if available). If you cancel, deposits are non-refundable but we’ll refund any balance paid if you’re before the 6-week window.

Do I need my own padel racket / surfboard?

You can bring your own racket/surfboard if you wish, but all equipment will be provided during activities including beach tennis rackets. Surfboards and wetsuits are provided by the surf school for the group lesson, but you may wish to rent them for additional surf time on the Sunday.

Is there an age limit?

The camp is aimed at adults. You’ll need to be 21+ at the time of the camp to book a place.

How fit do I need to be?

You don’t need to be an athlete, but you should be reasonably active and happy to spend time on court and in the sea. There will be breaks built into sessions and plenty of downtime – you can push yourself as much or as little as you like.

Do you provide insurance?

No, you’re responsible for your own travel/accident insurance. We strongly recommend a policy that covers padel, surfing and beach activities, plus medical and trip cancellation.

Can I drink alcohol on the camp?

Yes, in moderation. This is a relaxed, social weekend, not a detox retreat – but you’re still taking part in physical activities in the sea and on court, so we expect everyone to be sensible and safe.

The is a fully stocked Cornish bar at Anchor Barrow that we can make great use of!

Please drink responsibly.
